How can we help you?
General services
Our laboratory offers several services for Researchers and Physicians:
-
Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) of purified biological samples at 80 and 200 kV.
-
Sample preparation for thin-section TEM; hydrophobic and hydrophilic resins.
-
TEM imaging of thin-section samples at 80 and 200 kV (JEM-JEOL-2100)
-
In-situ immunogold labeling for TEM.
-
EM tomography.
-
STEM (dark and bright mode) and elemental analysis.
We are located in San Luis Potosí, but we proved Nationwide services, as well as, international services. Please contact us for a quote.
Biological samples for Academic Research
We provide sample preparation services for biological TEM at 80 and 200 kV. Our standard protocols include cell monolayers, cell pellets and animal tissues. Samples can be prepared for traditional thin-section TEM using EMBED-812 resin or for immunochemistry using LR White resin.
For a fixed fee our services include consulting, sample preparation, semi-thin sections (300 nm thickness) and ultra-thin sections (50 to 100 nm), staining, and visualization in our JEM-JEOL-2100 at 200 kV. We guarantee at least 25 micrographs per sample, although the average is 50 micrographs per sample. The average processing time, from sample reception to sample imaging, is about two weeks.
Also, we have experimental protocols for non-traditional samples. Any experimental protocol involves a discount as it does not guarantee an immediate result. Some novel protocols can take up to four weeks.
Something that is very important to us to make you part of this process. We will have open communication at every step of the process, and you are encouraged to assist in the TEM session (about 1 hour per sample).

Biological samples for Medical Research or Diagnosis

We provide sample preparation services for biopsies for Medical Research or Diagnosis purposes. In the past, we have done biopsies from different tissues like muscle, liver, and kidney. The average time for a sample to be prepared and analyzed is about two weeks.
What is included in our services?
Technical consulting, picking up samples at the site of extraction, sample containers and fixatives, sample processing, semi-thin sections (300 nm), ultra-thin sections (70 nm), staining, and TEM imaging. We will give copies of the result to the patient, treating Physician, and the Pathologist (if required). If the Physician and/or Pathologist is not happy with the images we will obtain more images until they are satisfied and can give a proper diagnosis.
What is not included in our services?
We do not interpret the results or give a diagnosis. For that, we will put you in contact with a qualified pathologist that can interpret the results. The cost of this study does not include the pathologist´s fee.
Things to be aware.
In case that the sample is for diagnosis purposes the patient will have to sign a contract and fill out forms that will explain, in great detail, his/her benefits and obligations.
For those samples that are intended for Medical Research, the Physician will have to fill out the proper forms.

In any case, samples will be received only after payment and if the samples were fixed at the place of the extraction following our protocols. We cannot receive samples that were not fixed in situ or those fixed with a protocol different from ours.
